Black is so hard to knit with at night

Yep , that's why the black beanie is taking me so damn long. Especially as it is 8 ply which means more stitches than the previous 12 ply I was using for the other beanie. 12 ply just knits up so much quicker you can't help but keep going and then ta da! it's finished. But I am up to the decreases which once started should go pretty quick so hopefully will be finished soon.

What next?

I have almost finished the other something for someone but now have to decide what I want to start on next. I have so many projects either started or planned in my mind I don't think I will ever be able to finish them all. Especially as the list keeps growing way faster than I can knit and even faster than I could ever afford to buy yarn. Perhaps some socks next or maybe the black beanie I probably should be working on. Why is it that when you should be working on something it is no longer fun???

No more scary orange socks

They are all done. Bright Orange socks with fluffy stuff all done and almost worn to death already. Miss B would wear them constantly if she could. Well Miss B now has warm feet and hands cause i've finished her mittens aswell. Thankfully they aren't bright orange.
Bf's hat is also done. Yummy soft cleckheaton country 12 ply, so its all nice and warm. It was too long at first so I had to rip it back and start decreasing earlier. BLAH. I went back and read the pattern properly and found my mistake. I just shouldn't try and read patterns, or do anything else that requires brainpower, while suffering from a cold.
After having just said that I am off to try and start another beanie using the same cleckheaton cause its so nice.

Scary Orange Sock

One scary orange sock almost completed, it just has to be grafted. It's a very very BRIGHT orange sock. All I can say is unfortunately I don't think it will be possible to loose these socks when they are done. And if Miss B does mysteriously manage to loose them I want to know how!!! They are shockingly bright.
Speaking to bf last night and after discussing beanies for months and not being able to choose a wool that he likes ( this is after walking through both spotlight and lincraft) he finally said" How long will it take you to knit a beanie?"
I said " Well it would be quicker if you actually chose a wool"
He says " Use any damn wool it was cold this morning"
He he he and yes at 5: 30 am when he goes to work it is freezing.
So after rejecting all the various shades of grey he has now decided I can even use black after all just because he was cold. Am very tempted to make it in a bright pink just because he said use any damn wool he he he.

Uh Huh

Your Birthdate: January 17
Your birth on the 17th day of the month suggests that you are very lucky financially, because this date indicates a solid business sense.
Although you are probably very honest and ethical, this birthday enables you to be shrewd and successful in the world of business and commercial enterprise.
You have excellent organizational, managerial, and administrative capabilities enabling you to handle large projects and significant amounts of money with relative ease.

You are ambitious and highly goal-oriented, although you may be better at starting projects than you are at finishing them.
A sensitivity in your nature, often repressed below the surface of awareness, makes it hard to give or receive affection.

What Does Your Birth Date Mean?
Oh is that why I have all these damn WIP and a huge, ever growing list of things I want to knit but don't get to make them all? Damn and here I was blaming it all on the time study takes away from my knitting.

Two Blue socks...

Yippee another pair of socks done. Lovely yummy blue socks.
Now I only have another million or so to do........ And a thousand or so fuzzy feet.
Ok so not quite that many but with the lack of free time now available that tafe has started up again is definitely feels that way.

I luckily managed to rescue my pattern book that I'd somehow managed to leave in the library photocopier. Whew maybe it's a good thing knitting isn't very popular here.
I had a wonderful Mother's Day......... Pancakes for breakfast and dinner cooked for me. Also a surprise card and present that boyfriend had bought for Miss B to give me. How incredibly sweet. Even sweeter is the fact that said present is a spotlight voucher. Did anyone say more wool??

One Blue Sock

Yes One blue sock completed......... Just have to do the other one now....... And the other millions of socks I want to make. The sock was made with cleckheaton country 8 ply in a lovely cornflower blue on 3.75 mm dpn's.
I have been looking up 2circ patterns but they just look so fidley that I haven't attempted it yet..... Also looks less transportable . Although it probably would make sure that my socks turned out exactly the same as I always seem to change the pattern slightly and then can never remember exactly where when I do the second sock.
Miss B wants a pair of orange socks.......blah don't ask me but I said I would make them........ I know I am crazy........ I don't like orange. Hee Hee it gets better........ They have to have orange fluffy stuff on the top of the ribbing. I can comply with this request due to Spotlight having crappy fluffy stuff on sale for 50 cents a ball. Gotto love Spotlight for keeping Lil girls happy........ And big girls too

Holidays are over

Holidays are over, so so sad. But what is good is that the socks finally got finished....... yes the ones I bought the ridiculously expensive sock yarn for back in January. And yes they are beautiful socks. I love them.
I also got to make another pair of socks in cleckheaton country 8 ply..... they are really warm. AND I made a pair of fuzzy feet from Knitty using purple woolbale.
But having said that the french market variation bag is still sitting waiting and so is the Jo Sharp silkroad dk tweed scarf. Actually I am no longer sure I like this scarf and am having jumper thoughts about this yarn. I seem to be having jumper thoughts about a lot of yarns..... just no time or budget to make them a reality at the moment.

Wheew

Well I did it.......... I passed 1 subject for sure....... YIPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Only 3 more to go............. for this term anyway. I am fairly confident I will pass two more but am still a little doubtful about the third.
I can't wait for the holidays so I can finally actually knit and maybe finish something. I can't wait to be able to knit without feeling guilty. Whatever I do I am feeling guilty that it is time I am not spending studying............. I hate feeling like this soooooooo much.
So holidays............ please hurry up .

Yes and.....

Well firstly I am still loving my roses although they arent looking quite so brilliant anymore.
Then I am also loving the person that sent them to me....(but still keeping shhhhh about that lil piece of info )

Have finished Miss B's Sophie ...... had to put it through the wash twice before it felted properly.
Have done a couple more rows on other bag ........ not many at all as too much time is being used for study.... who was it that told me studying was good??? They forgot to tell me about all the homework and the fact that I'd have no time to do anything else...... not even food shopping.

But having said that I am loving it..... just finding it a challenge to find some sort of routine that works for me and that lets me fit things in so I dont feel like i am missing out on anything.
Is taking me a whle to readjust is all I guess.

Ohhhhhhhh I love roses

Ohhh wow you got to love it when you have been out All day and come home to find a dozen roses on your doorstep. Whoot!!!
What a difference it makes to your day...... especially when the flowers are from the one person you adore.... shall we just say THESE flowers are proudly on display.
NOT hidden behind chairs or books or whatever else is laying around.
ohhhhhh sheeeesh I love this guy....SHHHHHHHH I did NOT just say that. But I do.
But those magic lil words are still waiting to be said. The big question is who is going to say them first???

Moving along

Have now learnt that anything machine washable EVEN if it is 100% wool will NOT felt.
Kinda knew this from reading other blogs ect but for some unknown reason couldnt quite accept this and decided to believe the woman in spotlight. ARGH. Will follow own judgement in future.
So have had wool from unfeltable thing replaced and is currently sitting in loungeroom just waiting..... but meanwhile........ I have nearly finished another SOPHIE..... just the handles to go. And yes I AM using woolbale so it WILL felt. WHOOT!!!

Stupid Stupid Felting

Blah Stupid felting.
I finally made my version of the French market bag. I used cleckheaton country 12 ply, shaped it all how i wanted it, was actually quite impressed with the shaping.
And then DISASTER!!!!!!
I put it in the washing machine and then NOTHING....... it didnt shrink at all.
SO I did it all again...... and then again....... checked it this morning... the washing maching was lined with lovely green fluff....... but no magic had happened.

Dilemma

Argh what a dilemma I find myself in.
I have been GIVEN some wool...... But then I find there are conditions..... I can have it if I make a jumper for a friends son out of it......Well there goes nearly half of it.
Then said friend wants me to make her a Sophie out of the purple ( of which there is very little and was the only colour I really liked out of all of it)
Said wool is rapidly diminishing before my eyes and it appears I am to be left with a pile of brown wool that I wouldn't personally buy and would only maybe use for a market bag. Really doesn't seem to be reward enough for the time that would be involved in making a jumper for someone else when id prefer to make a jumper for my own child.
As it is the child that the jumper is intended for doesn't even want a knitted jumper......says he would NEVER wear it.
He is at that age where knitted stuff just isn't cool and I have to say the choices of either brown or a really scary bright blue aren't very attractive.
Friend wanted me to use the blue for the jumper cause she didn't like the brown.
Personally don't think id use either cooler for anything id want my child wearing. But colours were chosen by her mother in law so she is just choosing what she prefers of the two.

Think I'll just return the wool as its actually quite insulting to think that this person thinks my time and effort is only worth a jumpers worth of ugly wool.

Am actually annoyed that this mother in law hasn't listened to her grandson when he has told her he doesn't want a knitted jumper.

It would be one thing if she was making a jumper for him herself.
But I know if I made this jumper id be hating every damn stitch of it, knowing that the recipitant isn't going to appreciate the effort involved and would hate it.
It would take all the fun out of knitting for me.

And knitting should always be fun......
